Audiogalaxy Settles with the RIAA
Posted by Raul Ruiz on Tuesday, June 18 @ 00:03:50 EDT Copyright

The RIAA announced today that they had settled pending litigation with Audiogalaxy regarding their "Napster-like clone" music swapping system. The agreement requires Audiogalaxy to create and utilize a "filter-in" system. This sytem would require that the copyright holder of a musical work first consent to the use and sharing of the work before it is made available to download on Audiogalaxy. Audiogalaxy will also be required to "pay the music publishers and recording industry a substantial sum based on Audiogalaxy's assets and interest in resolving this case quickly."
