Libraries Easing Into E-Books

Washtech.com reports (Libraries Launch E-Book Programs) that libraries are beginning to experiment with e-book lending. Not surprisingly, e-book publishers are worried about the copyright implications. Of course, publishers have never been quite happy with the idea of libraries in the first place. First Monday addresses some competing visions for e-books (The Battle to Define the Future of the Book in the Digital World). For thousands of unrestricted e-books in the public domain, check out Project Gutenberg.
