Congress to Consider Forming a Cyber Court
Posted by Raul Ruiz on Friday, October 19 @ 05:28:58 EDT Civil Liberties
Declan McCullagh is reporting for Wired that the Gilmore Commission will recommend that Congress create a new "cyber court" with extraordinary powers to authorize surveillance and searches of suspected hackers' homes and work places (Governor Calls for 'Cyber Court'). This comes after the report cites that federal judges too sluggish in approving search warrants and other electronic surveillance measures. Slashdot discusses the recommendation (Gilmore Commission Recommends Secret 'Cyber Court').

It'll be interesting to see how Congress and the Bush administration handle the recommendations, considering that they already acted on the Commission's recommendation to create the Office of Homeland Security.
