EU antitrust official takes leave of absence . . . to work for Microsoft?
Posted by James Grimmelmann on Monday, December 02 @ 18:43:17 EST Antitrust
Detlef Eckert works for the European Commission's information society directorate. Last year, his job included interviewing companies complaining about Microsoft's behavior. Next year, he'll be a Microsoft spokesman, pitching its Trustworthy Computing program to academics and other audiences.

The catch is, Eckert isn't resigning from his EC job; he's just taking a leave of absence. He's promised not to tell Microsoft anything he learned while working at the EC, but Microsoft competitors who shared their business plans with Eckert are already crying foul.
