Requiem for the pay phone

The Washington Post is running an elegy for the pay phone. As cell phone penetration rises, pay phone owners are decommissioning phone boothes as fast as they can. There were about 2.7 million pay phones in the U.S. in the mid 1990s; there are less than 2 million now.
