RIAA Files for Summary Judgement
Posted by Raul Ruiz on Friday, September 13 @ 16:16:54 EDT Copyright
It appears that the RIAA has filed for summary judgement again Kazaa, MusicCity and Grokster. According to the press release, they have expert testimony from Leonard Kleinrock, "widely regarded as one of the original founders of the Internet." Right... I thought Al Gore had that title.

Sigh. Al Gore never claimed that.. Leonard Kleinrock, on the other hand, invented packet switching, which is about as foundational as it gets. I don't know what his testimony says, but it may not be that bad -- it sounds like he just testified about the technical feasibility of preventing copyright violation, which is a reasonable sort of thing to have a technical opinion about, regardless of the politics around the case. I would be sad, though, if someone like that believed in the RIAA's side of things for the wrong reasons.
