Identity and Identification
Posted by Ernest Miller on Tuesday, October 02 @ 03:06:55 EDT Privacy
ZDNet News publishes a commentary that is generally favorable to a single ID system but opposes a National ID card - I guess this means an ID card from Microsoft is preferable (Protecting your digital identity). WIRED looks at an increasingly popular option for identification - biometrics - In this case, fingerprints (Will It Be Cash, Check or Finger?). WIRED also looks at the dangers of identity theft - with reference to the fact that some of the terrorists of 9/11 used stolen IDs (Another Thing to Fear: ID Theft).
UPDATE 1155 EDT Oct 2
Salon takes a look at identity theft (Wanted: Your name and number).
The Washington Post reports what can happen without proper identification (Lacking New IDs, Mexicans Turned Away at Border).
