The RIAA's website was unreachable over the weekend as a result of a denial-of-service attack. This attack came only four days after the RIAA endorsed legislation by Rep. Howard Berman that would make it legal for copyright holders to disrupt file sharing networks if they believe their copyrights are being infringed. Although no internal computers were compromised, the website was unreachable until about 2 a.m. PDT on Monday.
An unidentified RIAA representative was quoted as saying, "Don't they have something better to do during the summer than hack our site? Perhaps it at least took 10 minutes away from stealing music." These types of things just make me laugh.
