“E-Bay, ever
anxious to up profits, bends over backward to provide data to law enforcement
officials”.
The Israeli paper Haaretz picked
up Lawmeme’s
exclusive story about E-bay’s law enforcement initiative. Haarezt published
a cover-story
on E-bay’s privacy policy and questioned the legality and constitutionality
of the “consent” clause in e-bay’s users agreement. Relying onthis clause, E-bay shares sensitive
information about its customers with the law enforcement authorities without
asking for subpoena. Read more on how a de-facto monopoly exploits his position
in the marketplace to impose an intrusive privacy policy. (Haaretz)
