Problems with Redaction and Metadata
Posted by Ernest Miller on Monday, November 18 @ 08:40:40 EST Legal Technology
Law.com has an article that points out one of the lesser known issues regarding document formats and metadata: knowing what is actually in the documents you are sending out (A New Generation of Redacting Tools). The question should be why such redaction tools are necessary. Part of the reason is that software like Microsoft Word deliberately keeps its document format obscure. A more widespread reason is that most software tools don't handle metadata very effectively at present. [via Ernie the Attorney]
