Ian Ayres and Barry Nalebuff Ask, ''Why Not?''
Posted by Ernest Miller on Tuesday, April 02 @ 08:09:19 EST News
Ian Ayres, Professor at Yale Law School and Fellow of the Information Society Project, has started a new column for Forbes that asks the question, "Why Not?" (If Telemarketers Paid For Your Time). Barry Nalebuff is co-author of the column and the BusinessWeek bestseller (Co-opetition), in addition to being a professor at the Yale School of Management. The purpose of the "Why Not?" column is to challenge the status quo by rethinking assumptions about common practices. For example, the first column asks why not have telemarketers pay for the privilege of calling you? Or, why not have automobile insurance incorporated into the price of gas? Ayres and Nalebuff challenge readers to show why the ideas are correct or flawed, or to submit new ideas (Forbes Why Not? Forum).
