Timothy Koogle and Yahoo are not apologists for war crimes or Nazism, a French court has ruled.
Apparently, Koogle might have gone to jail for up to five years and been fined nearly $50,000, had the court ruled that, by selling Third Reich memorabilia on Yahoo, he effectively supported or condoned Hitler's politics.
TechNews reports here.
Such a ruling, incidentally, would have had rather strange implications. It would mean, for instance, that eBay, and any other online auction house, effectively supports all the habits, political outlooks, fetishes -- and so on -- associated with the goods sold on its web site.
