The Mercury news reports that the Commerce Department has approved a request to move one of the 13 root servers that manage Internet traffic, after repeated lobbying from Verisign, Inc. that this change was necessary for national security. The article criticizes Verisign and other companies for using "national security" as an excuse to cut through bureaucratic red tape and achieve self-interested business results.
