The End of Free
Posted by Ernest Miller on Wednesday, December 11 @ 10:35:52 EST News
Discovered an interesting collaborative weblog, called The End of Free, devoted to charting the transition from online business models that are "100% free" to business models that are a mix of free and fee (TEoF: What We Are). They've posted a bit more about their mission here (Nothing's Free?). There are some insightful articles, and they are aware of the irony of their blog itself being free and using free content management tools. [via InfoAnarchy]

The End of Free is a great blog -- I've been following it about two years now. The driving force of the collablog is Olivier Travers, who is a former Microsoft guy now working in France.

If you want a good net tech supplement to your law & tech diet, his personal blog WebVoice concentrates on things like Google APIs, web community, WiFi, and even the DMCA now and then. Olivier actually turned me onto such Web wonders as Boing Boing and the Capeclear API, for which I will be eternally grateful...

Olivier is probably so helpful because he's well versed in scifi (he runs SciFan) and as we all must admit, scifi and cyberlaw are hard to distinguish at times.
