Senator Fritz Hollings (D-SC) has submitted the SSSCA, renamed to the CBDTPA, to the Senate. The proposed bill would prohibit most electronic devices and software from being sold or imported if they do not include copy-protection standards set forth by the government, specifically the FCC. As usual, companies and organizations such as the MPAA, RIAA, and Disney are in full support of the measure. Major opposition comes from EFF, Intel, The Association for Competitive Technology, The Home Recording Rights Coalition, and others.
