Library Filters Itself
Posted by James Grimmelmann on Tuesday, November 26 @ 00:46:46 EST Oddities
The Flesh Public Library in Piqua, Ohio was named in the 1930s after local philanthropist Leo Flesh. But when it tried to set up a web page at http://www.fleshpublic.lib.oh.us, the version of NetNanny on the library's computers blocked the request. After all, it had both "public" and "flesh" in the domain name.

The library is now online at http://www.piqua.lib.oh.us. Removing the overly-zealous censorware doesn't appear to have been considered as an option.

The Dayton Daily news has the full story.
