Dutch to Regulate Strong Cryptography
Posted by nimrod kozlovski on Sunday, October 14 @ 06:35:52 EDT Cryptography
Telepolis magazine has disclosed that the Dutch government wants to regulate public use of strong cryptography, although the details of the regulation are not yet known (Dutch Government wants to regulate strong cryptography). This proposal comes as part of a larger Dutch government action plan to combat terrorism. Further, the Dutch government plans to implement additional wiretap requirements for Internet service providers, such allowing law enforcement agencies better access to the registers of the telecom providers, and longer storage requirements for traffic and location data. According to another article, Dutch police will make good use of these additional powers (Dutch Police expected to check 300.000 Internet-users in 2004).
