BoingBoing brings word of two very interesting IP developments. First, IP pirates beware, you may attract the attention of DC Comics Supervillans (Superman Image [.GIF]). The following is the actual dialogue between Captain Cold and an "illicit" purveyor of Supervillan merchandise known as Flashman in a recent Superman comic book (Adventures of Superman #613):
Captain Cold: Who do you think you are Flashman? Those altruistic freaks [Superheroes] might not give a toss if you're making money off their likenesses ... but we [Supervillans] do. You ever hear of Intellectual Property...?
Flashman: W-wait a second, Leonard ... can't we cut a deal ... ? [What sort of Supervillan is named "Leonard"?]
Captain Cold: Too late for that. I'm a duly appointed representative for all the lifers you're ripping off. You're trading on the cache of our colors... I'm particularly ticked off about those beer coolers... that means ... you're going out of business.
Flashman: N-No ... NOOO..!
Now is this a pro-IP comic or a subversive anti-IP comic (only Supervillans enforce IP)?
Second, USA Today notes that Grammy attendees will receive complimentary 20GB iPods as gifts. iPods are unable to download music from major industry sites like PressPlay (Gifts galore for Grammy's elite). [via BoingBoing and BoingBoing]
