File sharing = reefer madness?

Topic: File Sharing

Today's New York Times has a column by Rob Walker (of Slate) which draws an analogy between the public reaction to file sharing and the last generation's outcry of "reefer madness." Walker uses the analogy to mock RIAA for our entertainment, although he probably pushes it too far. Somehow, it is highly amusing to think about file sharing using drug vocabulary.

Pushing the analogy even further, does that mean compulsory licensing is like government-supplied medical marijuana?
