Hackers Defaced Major Newspaper's Web Site in Iraq
Posted by Nimrod Kozlovski on Sunday, February 23 @ 09:32:30 EST Computer Crime
A war on Iraq has not started on the ground, but online there is constant information warfare: the Iraq Daily newspaper's website was hacked and defaced by anonymous hackers.

4law.co.il has the full story and snapshots of the defaced website.

The hackers' messages called on the Iraqi people to desert Saddam and to join the allies. Religious messages were interweaved in the website's news and called on the Iraqi people to realize that Saddam is a "false prophet who spews the sewage of hatred and fear to keep you in poverty and despair".

Apparently, the hackers decided to keep spreading their message despite FBI's warning not to engage in independent information warfare.

....... and the IP could be traced to the us? i'm sorry hackers - but I don't think english written thou shalt not kill will help.

Now, if only he had actually put some real uncensored news there, in the right language, that might have had an effect of sorts.
