Law.com notes that a bill to create a "Cybercourt" has just been reported out of the Civil Law and Judiciary Committee of the Michigan State Legislature (Michigan Ponders 'Cybercourt' Bill). The Michigan Legislature has the text of the bill online (House Bill 4140 (2001-2002)). Cybercourt trials would feature videoconferencing and secure submission of evidence over the Internet. Governor John Engler and the bill's sponsors hope that these streamlined procedures will make Michigan a haven for tech companies that value quick dispute resolution. MichiganCyberCourt.net is a good resource for further information.
