A Court of Appeals in the UK has sanctioned a trial to determine the legal weight of VIA Technologies' allegations that Intel has engaged in anti-competitive practices.
VIA's accusations, somewhat ironically, are part of the company's defense against two patent-infringement suits filed by Intel in September 2001. Intel's accusations have been dismissed.
VIA claims "that the way Intel uses its huge patent portfolio seriously harms smaller rivals, and that Intel is driving rivals out of business and harming consumers".
