Iraq blogs
Posted by Steven Wu on Wednesday, March 26 @ 17:31:46 EST News
Some people claim that the blogosphere first demonstrated its might with the Trent Lott affair. Now, the war in Iraq is once again providing an opportunity for bloggers to show what they're good at.

The controversial superstar of the war blogs is Salam Pax's Where is Raed? Salam is supposedly a blogger currently in Baghdad, who posts right under the nose of the Iraq government. He has already been covered by the big media here and (in a second-hand report) here. Although there has been some dispute over whether Salam is a hoax, many people seem to believe in him.

Also of note are the BBC News war blog (which, annoyingly, changes its URL every day), L.T. Smash (a soldier on the field), and the now-defunct KevinSites. A non-live blog of note is The Command Post.

Perhaps traditional media formats are still best at providing a bird's-eye view of the war. But these bloggers provide a wealth of fascinating ground-level details.

www.bbc.co.uk/reporters. That doesn't work 100% of the time.
