New IETF Research Group to Fight Spam

The Register reports on a new IETF research group that is trying to design an architecture to fight spam. Their goal is to construct "consent expression, consent enforcement and source tracking" for email, which would hopefully mitigate spam while avoiding the censorship pitfalls of lexical analysis tools like SpamAssassin and tagging-engines like Vipul's Razor.
