License to Operate a Web Site

In an effort to control information flow, the Vietnamese government has implemented a licensing requirement for web site operators.

The regulation affects any business with an online presence: in order to put information online, you must first obtain a license from the Foreign Ministry.

"Web site owners must not provide information that would harm Vietnam's independence and its national security, agitate for war or expose state secrets."
