Benetton Backs Down on RFID Tags?

Last month, Phillips announced it would supply Benetton with radio-ID chips for use in tracking items in its supply chain and in stores. But now it looks as though Phillips spoke too soon.

Benetton has denied that it intends to take any such steps. The press release is cagey, though: while Benetton hasn't made "feasibility studies" of the technology, it does "reserve[] the right to take the most appropriate decision to generate maximum value for its stakeholders and customers."
