EFF Lawyers Allowed to Remain on ReplayTV Case
Posted by James Grimmelmann on Monday, October 21 @ 12:44:47 EDT Copyright
As LawMeme reported two weeks ago, the movie studios in the ReplayTV case asked the court to exclude the EFF's lawyers from seeing most of the documents in the case. The studios advanced the credulity-straining claim that the EFF was a "competitor" of theirs, and should therefore be barred from seeing "highly confidential documents" (read: almost everything) obtained during pre-trial discovery.

After hearing oral arguments on the motion, Judge Cooper ruled in favor of the EFF and their clients. The EFF's press release has a few more details on this victory for common sense and fair play.
