A 66 year old woman was incorrectly sued for copyright violations in one of the recent 261 suits filed by the RIAA against music downloaders.
The woman, a sculptor who says she is not techno-savvy, was accused of downloading songs by Trick Daddy and Busta Rhymes, among others. Among other reasons why she could not have downloaded the alleged songs, the woman cites the fact that she owns only a Macintosh and no Mac version of Kazaa exists. Although the RIAA doesn't believe it made a mistake in identifying her ISP account, it is dropping its suit for now.

How are they identifying people? By dhcp records? What if someone used her account. Maybe they should look at phone records. |
