Microsoft-China GSP Deal : Perjury OR Treachery?
Posted by Raul Ruiz on Friday, February 28 @ 11:06:43 EST

Antitrust
NZheretic writes "In May, under oath at the antitrust hearing Jim Allchin, group vice president for platforms at Microsoft, stated that disclosing the Windows operating system source code could damage national security and even threaten the U.S. war effort. Now in February, Microsoft signed a pact with Chinese officials to reveal the Windows operating system source code. Bill Gates even hinted that China will be privy to all, not just part, of the source code its government wished to inspect.Either Jim Allchin lied under oath, to prevent code revelation being any part of the settlement, OR the Microsoft corporation is behaving traitorously, by exposing national security issues to foreign governments."

I'm sure the DoJ isn't interested (after all Bush said he favors "innovation not litigaiton" just like Bill Gates).

Is there any way to force them to prosecute? Can anyone else prosecute?

Microsoft was caught lying under oath during the antitrust case, when they presented the obviously doctored video of a browser download. Fabricated evidence.

They threw the judge out, not the lawyer.

Fascinating. Russia's SVR got access to the code a few months ago.

It's neither perjury nor treachery.

Jim Allchin told the judge that disclosing source code TO COMPETITORS has national security concerns. The chinese government is not a competitor.

The American government already has signed a DIFFERENT agreement to look at A LOT MORE source code than the agreement signed by the russian and the chinese government.

It's like Area 51. The START treaties allows the Russian government to look into Area 51 through "national technical means" (aka Russian spy satellites). Meanwhile, ordinary American citizens will get themselves killed if they try to peek into Area 51 (because of national security concerns).

Considering the FACT that Monopolosoft is a convicted monopolist, and considering that the corporation has developed a culture of lies, underhanded business practices, extortion, threats, and theft of software, I would bow to the obvious: MS is guilty of treachery, not because of its hypocritical dealings with China, but because of its underhanded and immoral behavior towards the American people and the rest of the world.
http://www.aaxnet.com/editor/edit029.html#altpath You only have to read that to get a very small idea of what lies lie deeper in the fabric of this corrupt and dishonest corporation.

Happily, the rest of the world [where there seems to be of late more freedom of press and more fundamental human rights], isn't going for their forged innocence.

Now, you may get the idea that I do not like Microsoft very much because of the tone of this post, but you would be mistakes. This is pure logic and has nothing to do with "feelings" as such. In fact, I just love them to smittens. :)
