Links: Paris Hilton And Copyright Law -- Update
Posted by Rebecca Bolin on Tuesday, July 13 @ 23:53:41 EDT Copyright
Remember Paris Hilton's claim of authorship of "One Night in Paris"? Looks like Paris's artistic directing rights have been preserved. All the lawsuits in this mess have been settled.

Paris's invasion of privacy suit against the online distributor was dismissed and her suit with her ex has been settled. Paris stands to gain $400,000 plus a share of the proceeds--which will go to "worthy charities." This is clearly as sweet an ending as possible to this tragic tale of ignored IP rights.

Update (7/14): Mainstream media may have gotten it wrong yesterday about the settlement, but no reason to doubt the dismissal yet.

Fleshbot [www.fleshbot.com] has a post linking to a AVN.com article that states the New York Daily News (the source for the E! article) "incorrectly reported today that Paris Hilton had reached a settlement with ex-boyfriend Rick Salomon over their infamous sex video that is being distributed by Red Light District."

Paris' IP rights still might have a chance.
