Open Hearing on FCC's Mass Media Rules
Posted by Paul Szynol on Thursday, December 05 @ 01:20:57 EST Governance
In February, the FCC will hold a public hearing on the adjustment of limitations on public ownership of mass media: newspapers, television stations and radio stations.

Specifically, the rules concern the permitted size of national television audiences; local concentration of radio stations; common ownership of TV and radio stations, and common ownership of TV stations and newspapers.

Michael Powell, FCC's Chairman, has, in the past, supported loosening the limitations, which would permit an increase in mass media consolidation.

Coverage is here.
