Talk about timeliness: Congress recently enacted panic-driven measures for research into cyberterrorism ($903 Million for Cybersecurity) and for heavier penalties for Internet attacks (Life Sentences for Child Porn Busters?). Now, as News.com reports, British firm mi2g has released a report entitled, Hacker attacks on Government systems declining year-on-year. The report is not directed toward Congress (or even toward the United States in general), but the basic message is one Congress should take to heart: Take a deep breath and relax.
