The International Trade Commission has ruled that subsidies provided to Korean chip makers by the Korean government have injured U.S. makers of memory chips.
The United States International Trade Commission (ITC) today determined that there is a reasonable indication that a U.S. industry is materially injured by reason of imports of DRAMs and DRAM modules from Korea that are allegedly subsidized.
The Dept. of Commerce will therefore continue its countervailing duties investigation; the deadline for a preliminary determination is January 2003.
