Anonymous writes "Apparently MailBlocks (www.mailblocks.com) is offering a 100% spam free e-mail service. While this sounds great, it might be wise to read the fine print in their privacy policy...
(2) Personally identifiable information: Mailblocks collects personally identifiable information during the registration process, and this Privacy Policy serves as notice that such information is collected under those circumstances. You may not “opt out” of the registration process if you wish to use Mailblocks’ Services.
Mailblocks furnishes our members, and permits third parties to furnish our members, through the Services and otherwise, with information, promotional materials and solicitations, from time to time. You may not “opt out” of the receipt of such promotional materials from Mailblocks and/or its affiliates, advertisers or other business partners if you wish to use the Services. The receipt of such promotional materials is an inseparable part of the Services that Mailblocks provides. If you decide that you would like to discontinue receiving such promotional materials, you must stop your use of the Services and terminate your account with Mailblocks.
Mailblocks reserves the right to release any personally identifiable registration information regarding you to third parties who provide goods or services that we believe may be of interest to you. Some third parties furnishing you with promotional materials may permit you to “opt out” of receiving such communications from them. However, Mailblocks is not responsible for any such party’s failure to comply with its own “opt out” policies.
Mailblocks uses individual data to “target” advertising — to decide which advertisements and sponsor messages to send to which members. As an example, if Sponsor Co. wishes to send their advertising only to Mailblocks members residing in California, Mailblocks uses member registration data to ensure that Sponsor Co.’s ads are sent only to members residing in California.
To top it all off, they charge you for the privilige of having advertisements delivered to you! I don't think I'll be signing up for this any time soon.

Re: Anti-Spam E-mail Provider??? (Score: 0) by Anonymous on Thursday, March 27 @ 02:16:26 EST | For a few hours on our first day of service we had an old boilerplate version of the terms couments that our attorneys had created several years ago. When we learned of this we immediately put up the "correct" terms documents. And to put a point on the fact that we will not spam our users we added this line to all of our documents: "NOTE: MAILBLOCKS WILL NEVER SEND YOU OR ALLOW THIRD PARTY COMPANIES AUTHORIZED BY THE COMPANY TO SEND YOU UNSOLICITED EMAIL." Hopefully this makes it very clear.
I hope that Brian and others will try the Mailblocks service. It's the best consumer email service in the world (IMHO) and among other things it eliminates all spam from your inbox.
