Music Industry to Consume Own Tail
Posted by Ren Bucholz on Thursday, February 20 @ 13:37:19 EST File Sharing
News.com reports on a nasty bit of music industry cannibalism, as Bertelsmann is being sued by several music publishers for its investment in Napster. The suit seeks $17 billion dollars and posits that the German giant "was fully aware of the critical role its funding play(ed) in facilitating infringement by Napster users." The publishers will likely file additional suits against themselves for writing the songs that fueled this file-sharing craze.

It's not the users that are guilty... it's everybody!

They have no choice but to sue the news companies that had Napster coverage because they should have realized that they were turning the previously unaware into potential Napster customers. The cold hearted thieves at the news companies knew what they were doing was wrong. It was just like a teenager hurling a movie across the Internet at the speed of light.
