FCC Reviewing Cross Ownership and Cable Ownership Rules
Posted by Ernest Miller on Friday, September 14 @ 23:01:12 EDT OpenAccess
The FCC has initiated a review of their rule banning ownership of both a newspaper and broadcast station in the same market (FCC INITIATES PROCEEDING TO REVIEW NEWSPAPER-BROADCAST CROSS-OWNERSHIP RULE). The FCC is also reviewing cable ownership rules in response to the Time Warner decision by the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia (FCC BEGINS REVIEWING CABLE OWNERSHIP LIMITS). Hmmm, I wonder if these two reviews are related? Common carrier anyone? The Center for Digital Democracy explains why the proposed changes to the rules would be a bad thing.
