ACLU's Big Brother Predictions
Posted by Paul Szynol on Wednesday, January 15 @ 17:47:17 EST Privacy
Looking for the Information Awareness Office logo which no longer adorns the project's web site (LawMeme's coverage of the changes is here)? The graphic appears four times on the cover page of the ACLU's report about surveillance in America.

The report, titled Bigger Monster, Weaker Chains: The Growth of an American Surveillance Society, is reasonably cynical about the use of technology by the modern American state.

Privacy and liberty in the Unites States are at risk . . . There is a lot of room for the United States to become a meaner, less open and less just place without any radical change in government. All that's required is the continued construction of new surveillance technologies and the simulatenous erosion of privacy protections.
In short, efficacious legal guards must curb the potential for misuse of advanced technology.
