This is a study? (Score: 1) by anthony_dipierro on Wednesday, August 14 @ 20:26:17 EDT (User Info | Send a Message) http://slashdotsucks.com/ | >"Based on surveys of 1,000 on-line consumers, we see no evidence of decreased CD buying among frequent digital music consumers."
Well, first of all, self-reported data is simply not accurate, especially self-reported data regarding participation in illegal activities. Secondly, they only say they see no evidence of decreased CD buying among frequent digital music consumers. Anyone who knows the laws of supply and demand knows that the first consumers affected by competition are the less frequent music consumers. Further, many (perhaps most) of those who have discovered P2P filetrading and use it to obtain music aren't digital music consumers at all.
That aside, how were the 1000 online consumers selected as to avoid bias? |
