Domain Disputes Favor Trademark Holders
Posted by Raul Ruiz on Monday, June 24 @ 12:32:30 EDT Trademark
The New York Times is reporting (free reg. required) on a study that finds that the arbitration system used to settle domain name disputes have substantially broadened the rights of trademark holders in cyberspace. The report states that although the arbitration system has been effective in combating abusive domain name registrations, they also find that the system had "tipped the scales too far" in favor of trademark interests.
