Civil Liberties Continued ...
Posted by Ernest Miller on Tuesday, September 25 @ 03:55:29 EDT Civil Liberties
Declan McCullagh pens a short history of restrictions on civil liberties during American wars for WIRED (Why Liberty Suffers in Wartime). The Washington Post discusses the events of 9/11 with encryption star, Philip Zimmermann, focusing on his misgivings (To Attacks' Toll Add a Programmer's Grief). Zimmermann feels the WashPost article was not entirely accurate - his reply can be found on Slashdot (Philip Zimmermann and 'Guilt' Over PGP). ZDNet News publishes a commentary on terrorism and steganography by encryption guru Bruce Schneier (Terrorists and steganography) as well as one on cyberterrorism itself (Cyberterrorists: our invisible enemies). Salon publishes a pessimistic, but more reflective piece (The end of liberty).
