An overly zealous lawyer for the Rolling Stones asked Atlanta journalist Bill Wyman to stop using his own name.

EverQuest's EULA is at the center of a battle brewing between Sony and Linux-based cheaters who may port their tool to Windows as a fudge-you to Sony.

The Small Webcaster Amendments Act has been passed by Congress. Some people like it, others don't.

The Senate approved .kids.us; NeuStar will police the new domain, sites in which will be forbidden from linking out.

Your link to the Washington post article reprenting people who are unhappy with HR 5469 is from Nov 10: 4 days before the bill was finally passed.

The bill as it was passed, at least as I understand it, is somewhat flexible and allows some time (7 months?) for amateur and non-profit webcasters to work out their own royalty deals--less for small businesses but they're much farther along in negotiations anyway.

We'll see how things stand after things are finalized. It will be better than under CARP and almost certainly worse than it really should be for these colleges, nonprofits, and individuals. However, right now, we just don't know.
