DMCA Revisions?
Posted by Steven Wu on Wednesday, November 20 @ 14:43:10 EST Digital Millennium Copyright Act
Two stories on the Digital Millenium Copyright Act:

On Slashdot, we read about Fat Wallet taking down a list of prices from various retailers (Walmart, Target, Best Buy, and Staples) when those retailers claimed that their sales prices were protected under the DMCA.

Ridiculous? Perhaps. At any rate, with this and other tales of woe, the time seems ripe for a re-evaluation of the DMCA--and, in a small step in the right direction, the Copyright Office has begun accepting comments on revising the DMCA, albeit only for one provision (the "anticircumvention" section). (Read the News.com article.)

Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, this won't help Fat Wallet. But incremental change is still better than nothing.
